Eureka, CA - Funeral services for Joyce B. Wilde were held Saturday, August 16 at Salem Lutheran Church in Stephen. Joyce Becklund Wilde died at her home in Eureka, CA, on Saturday, August 2, 1997 at the age of 66.
Joyce Becklund Wilde was born April 17, 1931 to Axel and Martha (Strid) Becklund in Augsburg township near Stephen. She graduated from Karlstad High School and the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND. She began her nursing career at Karlstad Memorial Hospital before moving to Eureka, CA. In Eureka she was employed at General Hospital as an emergency room nurse and evening supervisor. At Roddiscraft, Inc., she organized and worked in their first Industrial Health Department. Later, Joyce was employed for many years in the office of John B. Slater, MD until her retirement in 1985.
On October 24, 1959 she was united in marriage to Roy F. "Ted" Wilde. Roy passed away in 1986.
Joyce was a member of the Humboldt County Historical Society, Humboldt Community Concert and Calvery Lutheran Church. For many years, she served as an advisor on the College of the Redwood in the Medical Assisting Division.
Joyce is survived by her brother, Gayle (Beverly) Becklund of Baudette; her uncle and aunt, Birger and Gladys Streed of Baudette; a dear friend, Fred Lemstrom of Eureka, CA; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents; her brother, Garfield; and sister, Joyce Marion in infancy.
Pastor Doug Norquist officiated at the services. Burial was at Salem Church Cemetery in Stephen.
The Collins Funeral Home, Inc. of Karlstad, Greenbush and Middle River was in charge of the arrangements.
