
Red Lake Falls - Edith Wetenkamp, 86, died Sunday, November 2, 1997 at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs-day, November 6 at 2 p.m. at Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Red Lake Falls.
Edith Feragen was born October 16, 1911 in Norden township near Thief River Falls, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Hitterdahl) Feragen. She grew to adulthood on the family farm in Reiner township near Goodridge. She attended rural school and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On March 21, 1935 Edith was united in marriage to Erwin (Mike) Wetenkamp in Thief River Falls. She spent her entire married life, 63 years, on the farm in rural Red Lake Falls. A dedicated wife and mother, Edith was a pleasant person who cooked, canned, gardened, sewed clothing, quilted and helped her husband with the hard farm labor. She also had many self-taught skills which included rosemaling, hardanger, how to read and write in Norwegian, crocheting and knitting. She was very proud of her Norwegian ancestry.
Edith is survived by one son, Erwin (Marilyn) of Red Lake Falls; two daughters, Irene (Roger) Aspevig of Crookston and Emma (Jack) McKeever of Fargo; five grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 18, 1995; an infant son; her parents; four sisters; and six brothers.
