
Thief River Falls - Goldie Weckwerth, 79, died Sunday, February 22, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, February 25 at Faith Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Terry Olson officiating. Grace Hammer will be the organist, and special music will be provided by the Trochmann Singers. Casketbears will be her grandsons, Milton Wickstrom, Brian Erickson, Greg Erickson, Brad Erickson, Darren Holter, Shon Beito, Chad Erickson, Jonathon Erickson, Jimmy Erickson and Scott Stone. Honorary casketbearers will be Goldie's granddaughters, Shari Holter, Stephanie Stone, Heidi Erickson, Kelly Marrinan, Brenda Harrison, Annette Lian, Diana Erickson, Jaki Erickson and Torie Olson. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Free Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush.
Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Goldie Lorraine Anderson was born on July 8, 1918 at Grand Forks, ND to Golden and Ida (Olson) Anderson. She moved with her family to Ross and attended schools in Roseau County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and raised by her grandparents after her father died before she was born and her mother died when she was three years old.
On November 17, 1934 she married Lloyd Erickson in Roseau County. The couple farmed in Solar township near Haug. They were members of Oiland Lutheran Church and Bethania Lutheran Church after they moved to Greenbush in 1956. Goldie worked at the hospital and nursing home in Greenbush. Lloyd died on September 15, 1974. Goldie moved to Thief River Falls in 1979.
On February 6, 1988 she was united in marriage to Owen Weckwerth. He died on November 3, 1997.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Brethren Church and was active in the Heritage Center band, choir and dance club. Goldie had served on the nutrition council at the Heritage Center and was also a member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, polka and spending time with her family.
Goldie is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Harold) Beito and Shelly (Steve) Stone of Thief River Falls; three sons, Rodney Erickson of Greenbush, Floyd (Arlene) Erickson of Thief River Falls and Dean (Irene) Erickson of Thief River Falls; her husband's son, Galen (Julie) Weckwerth of Glenwood; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two aunts, Hazel Knutson of Spokane, WA and Clara Lunde of Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lloyd Erickson and Owen Weckwerth; one son, Gary Erickson; one grandson, Jason Erickson; one half brother, Jerry Anderson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
