Clement Wavra, 93

Red Lake Falls - Clement Wavra, 93, died Tuesday, November 2, 1999 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, November 4 at 1 p.m. at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church in Dorothy with Rev. Tim Bushy officiating. Polly Beyer was the organist, and special music was provided by St. Dorothy's Church Choir. Casketbearers were Jack Petersen, Mike Knott, Ken Wavra, Tom Altepeter, Dan Wavra and Gene Wavra. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery near Euclid. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Clement James Wavra was born to James and Mary (Balek) Wavra on September 8, 1906 at Tabor. He was raised there and attended rural school.

On January 26, 1932, he was united in marriage to Mamie Boutain at Dorothy. The couple lived and farmed in the area, and in 1943, Clement began to work as a carpenter. In 1983, he moved to Sunset Court in Red Lake Falls and since 1994 has resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

He enjoyed playing the fiddle, hunting with his nephews and fishing. He also did clock and watch repair.

Clement is survived by three daughters, Elaine (Robert) Demarais and Marlene Olbrantz, both of Oak Creek, WI, and Rosemary Pahlen of Red Lake Falls; 24 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one sister, Clara, who resides in the state of Washington.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Clementyne Jeanne Altepeter, his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
