Alpha Warne, 79

Grygla - Alpha Warne, 79, died Thursday, March 20, 1997 at the Roseau Area Hospital in Roseau. Arrangements were with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 24 at Grace Lutheran Church of Grygla with Rev. Roberta Johnson officiating. Burial was in Valle Cemetery of Benville Township, Beltrami County.

Casketbearers were Brian Jones, Marlan Warne Jr., Jason Warne, Chad Warne, Tracy Dunham, Christopher Warne, Jeremy McDonagh and Wade Dunham.

Alpha Irene Rogers was born on February 1, 1918 in Bemidji, the daughter of George and Zerelda (Sutton) Rogers. The family lived in the Fourtown area where she attended rural school. She was united in marriage to Ray Warne on September 25, 1938 in Fourtown. The couple lived in the Grygla area and farmed. Due to ill health, she moved to the Greenbush Nursing Home in November of 1996.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and had served in its women's group.

She is survived by husband Ray of Grygla; children Janice (Wallace) Jones of Goodridge, Marlan (Marge) Warne of Strathcona, Lyle (Linda) Warne of Groveland, FL, Wayne (Sandy) Warne of Grygla, Russell (Pauline) Warne of Warroad, Sandra (Lloyd) Dunham of Roseau, Gayle Warne of Roseau, and Dale (Sherry) Warne of Roseau; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Penelope (Jack) Warne of Grygla; sisters-in-law Anna Rogers of Crookston and Harriet Gornick of Ellensburg, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and brothers Lewis and Dwight Rogers.
