Alan B. Warcup, 70, died Tuesday, November 7, 2000 at his home in
Grand Forks, N.D.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks with Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks in charge of the arrangements.
Alan Bruce Warcup was born on January 22, 1930 in Grand Forks, N.D., the son of Raymond and Irene (Christopherson) Warcup. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School in 1948. He attended the University of North Dakota. Alan was a pilot with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In 1956, he returned to Grand Forks and graduated from the UND School of Law in 1960. He began working for the law firm of Stokes, Vaaler and Gillig in Grand Forks. He quickly became an associate and later was a partner in the firm until 1998 when he began working for Letnes, Marshall and Swanson.
On June 21, 1959, he married Devera Borchert in Thief River Falls.
Alan's professional and community affiliations include: First Judicial District Bar Association, president 1970-72; North Dakota State Bar Association, president 1973-74 and Title Standards committee; Opportunity Training Center of Grand Forks, chairman of the board; North Dakota Council of Professions, past president; BPO Elks, past Exulted Ruler; Grand Forks County Council on Aging, Inc., board member; and Grand Forks Rotary Club, past president.
Alan is survived by his wife, Devera; three daughters, Alison (Randy) Blackowiak of Chanhassen, Pamela (Steve) Marback of Grand Forks, and Susan Warcup of Cheyenne, Wy.; two sons, Brian (Liane) Warcup of Seattle, Wash. and John (Stacy) Warcup of Grand Forks; seven grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Warcup of Island Lake; and two brothers, Ronald (Shirley) Warcup of Mereed, Calif. and Dennis (Janna) Warcup of Fargo, N.D.
