Rose Walsh, 82

Crookston - Rose Walsh, 82, died Saturday December 13, 1997 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 15 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Crookston. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Rose Anna McShea was born June 3, 1915 at Jeffers, the daughter of Thomas and Clara (Ruby) McShea. At the age of 16, she came to Crookston and lived with the Sisters of the Mount St. Benedict.

On June 20, 1933 she was united in marriage to Charles Walsh at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. The couple made their home in Crookston. Charles passed away on January 20, 1971. In 1972, Rose began working at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in the laundry department. She retired after 15 years. Rose moved to the Villa in 1992.

She enjoyed many years of involvement with the Chrismatic prayer group of Crookston and the Cursillo Movement. She was also very active in the Sacred Heart Solality and the Altar Society at Greenbush as well as the Confraternity of the Scapula.

Rose is survived by nine daughters, Rose Mary (Ron) Stinar of Fargo, ND, Ellen (Keith) Langhorst of Barnum, Anna Johnson of Bemidji, Darlene (Curt) Highness of Crookston, Melody Jasicki of Maple Grove, Mary Lou (Dan) Schmitz of Red Lake Falls, Coleen (Marvin) Bartz of Barnum, Patricia (David) LaCoursiere and Marcella Joseph, both of Crookston; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother Jerry (Margaret) McShea of St. Paul; three sisters, Martha Erickson of LeSeur, Mary (Charles) Jolley of Arkansas and Ann Marko of St. Paul; two sisters-in-law, Doris McShea of Minneapolis and Luella Walsh of Williams; one brother-in-law, Glenn Berry; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Besides her husband Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son at birth, Patrick O'Brian; one grandson, Michael Stinar; one great-grandson, Jordan Stanislowski; three brothers, John, Andy and Charles; one sister, Clara Berry; and two brothers-in-law, Andy Marko and Maynard Erickson.
