
Thief River Falls - Sylvia Walseth, 88, died Thursday, July 23, 1998 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire with Reverend Teri Skildum officiating. Al and Ed Walseth sang a duet.
Sylvia A. Wahlbeck was born on March 6, 1910 in South Dakota. She lived in Black River township near St. Hilaire and attended school in St. Hilaire, graduating in 1928.
On January 18, 1930 she was united in marriage to Thorstein Walseth in St. Hilaire. The couple farmed in River Falls township their entire lives. In January of 1991 Sylvia entered Oakland Park Nursing Home where she has since resided. Thorstein died on May 3, 1992.
She was a member of the Zehlians in Thief River Falls and a member of Calvary Lutheran church where she was active in its circle.
She enjoyed crafts, painting and working with copper and leather.
Sylvia is survived by one daughter, Carol Gulbranson of Bemidji; one son, Robert of St. Hilaire; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
