Gary Walker, 41

Sauk Rapids - Gary Walker, 41, died in Salt Lake City, UT on Wednesday, August 13, 1997.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 18 at 2 p.m. at Black River Lutheran Church in rural St. Hilaire with Reverend Marcia Sylvester officiating. Music was provided by organist Ruthie Mosbeck and soloist Diane Johnson. Casketbearers were Jim Rooker, Kenneth Fort, Gary Srnsky, Kalvin Srnsky, Greg Srnsky and Rick Srnsky. Burial was at Black River Cemetery. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Allen Walker was born on November 23, 1955 to Albert and Jeanette (Srnsky) Walker in Virginia. He lived in the Palo community near Aurora until 1965 when his family moved to Thief River Falls. He attended schools in Thief River Falls and grew to adulthood in the rural area on a farm. In 1972, he enlisted in the Army and served two years. Following his discharge, he moved to Duluth where he lived until moving to Wyoming in 1978. On August 13, 1979 he was united in marriage to Beverly Thompson at Rock Springs, WY. In 1981, they moved to Watford City, ND and Gary worked in the oil fields in Wyoming, Colorado and North Dakota. He took a course in mechanics at the Williston Vo-tech in 1983 and 1984. In 1985, he left North Dakota and moved to Minneapolis and St. Cloud where he worked as an over-the-road trucker. In 1991, he was united in marriage to Lin Walker in Las Vegas, NV and the couple worked as a driving team until 1992. Gary continued to drive over the road until his death. Gary enjoyed spending time with his children and family, fishing, camping, dancing and playing cards.

Gary is survived by three sons, Andrew Scott Walker of Monticello, Brady Allen Walker and Stephen Daniel Walker, both of Duluth; three daughters, Carrie LeAnn and Corrie Ann, both of Duluth and Breanna Lynn of Monticello; four step-children, George, Tracy, Matthew and Sean Deitrich; his parents, Albert and Jeanette of Watford City, ND; two brothers, Stephen (Nancy) Walker and Daniel (Jeanne) Walker, all of Duluth; one sister, Laurie (Paul) Zolondek of Watford City, ND; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Ida Srnsky, Charles Walker and Ruth Clark; one nephew; and several cousins.
