Thief River Falls - Katherine "Katie" Wald, 79, died Thursday, November 19, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 23 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Father Dennis Wieland officiating. Kristie LaSalle was the organist. Marie Nowacki was the cantor. Casketbearers were Ron Kresel, Larry Senger, Joe Thomas, Ken Thomas, Darin Wald and Jim Wald. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Katherine Senger was born on November 20, 1918 in Karlsruhe, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Meyer) Senger. She was baptized in the Christian faith at Karlsruhe. In September of 1919 the family moved to Glencross, SD where Katie was confirmed. She grew up and attended school in the area. Later, she moved to Kansas City, MO where she lived and worked for many years.
In 1976 Katie moved to Thief River Falls where she was united in marriage to Frank Wald on September 25, 1976. Frank died on July 13, 1995.
Katie is survived by five stepchildren, Don (Arlene) Wald of Stephen, Bob (Rita) Wald of St. Hilaire, Carole Wald of Brooklyn Park, Renee (Brian) Chapman of Union City, CA, and Kathy (John) Connelly of Minnetonka; nine grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Johanna (Bladwin) Keller of Mobridge, SD; and two brothers, Joe (Margaret) Senger in Michigan, ND and Andy (Dorothy) Senger of Columbia Falls, MT.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one stepson, Tony Wald; her parents; two brothers, Wendellin and John; and three sisters, Rose, Elizabeth and Bertha.
