Emmett Wagner, 76

Middle River - Emmett Wagner, 76, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997 at the Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Pastor John Jorgensen officiating. The Collins Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Emmet Herman Wagner, the son of the late William and Ida (Paetznick) Wagner, was born on August 26, l920, in Cedar township near Middle River. He attended the Koepp School in Cedar Township, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Emmet was united in marraige to Lillian Larson on October 17, 1945 at Gatzke. The couple has since lived on the family farm in Cedar Township. They have been active members of the First Lutheran Church of Middle River where Emmett served on the church council for many years. He also served on the Cedar Town Board.

Emmet is survived by his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Marvel (Wesley) Pesek of Strathcona and Emilie (Harlan) Riggs of Bagley; three grandchildren; three sisters, Alma Wagner of Middle River, Adeline (Carl) Burrell of Thief River Falls and Ann (Gene) Peterson of Gatzke; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Selma McCullough, and three brothers, John, Anton and Harvey.
