
Greenbush - Selmer V. Waage, 83, died Monday, January 12, 1998 at the Greenbush Nursing Home in Greenbush.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 15 at 11 a.m. at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Pastor Dennis Gray officiating. Darlene Waage was the organist, and Joanne Gunderson provided vocal music. Casketbearers were Ellis Waage, Ray Johnson, Harold Howdahl Sr., Chuck Clow, Bruce Gunerson and Charley Shimpa. Honorary casketbearers were his ten Godchildren, Greg Howdahl, Craig and Mark Bratland, Carol Anderson, Harold Howdahl Jr., Kim Borreson, Jeff Erickson, Gerald Waage, Kathy Moose and Carol Aamodt Logan. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Greenbush.
Selmer V. Waage was born on April 20, 1914 in Barnett township near Greenbush, the son of Gust and Thea (Aamodt) Waage. He grew up and attended school in rural Greenbush.
On June 28, 1946 he was united in marriage to Victoria Erickson at Thief River Falls. Selmer farmed and was involved in the logging and lumber business for many years.
Selmer was a past president of the Northwest Timberman's Association, an active member of the old Zion Lutheran Church of rural Greenbush and later of United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush. He served as caretaker for the Zion Lutheran Cemetery for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Victoria; one daughter, Eileen (Stanley) Melby of Greenbush; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Olaf, Otto and Enok Waage.
