Goodridge - Lois Vezina, 71, died Monday, October 23, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Goodridge with Father Dennis Weiland officiating. Audrey Rogalla was the organist, and special music was provided by songleader Kathy Kainz and St. Anne's Choir. Casketbearers were her brothers, James Frazer, Harvey Frazer, Eugene Frazer, Charles Frazer, Earl Frazer, Carl Frazer, Robert Frazer and Michael Frazer. Honorary casketbearers were Lois' grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Interment took place on Thursday, October 26, at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.
Lois Ann Frazer was born on October 3, 1029 in the Village of Cass Lake, the daughter of Harvey and Amelia (Carpenter) Frazer. She was baptized at St. Charles Catholic Church and grew up and attended school in Cass Lake. She worked as a waitress at Bee Hive Cafe in Cass Lake.
On October 11, 1947, Lois was united in marriage to Jesse Vezina at Cass Lake. The couple lived in Cass Lake and Hibbing until 1954 when they moved to Goodridge and operated Vezina Cafe until retiring in 1970. After Jesse's death on July 24, 1995, Lois continued to make her home in Goodridge.
She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, deer hunting, playing Bingo and helping others.
Lois is survived by two daughters, Patricia Schwartz of Cloquet and Marilyn (Tim) Knutson of Roseau; a daughter-in-law, Carol Vezina-Sanders of East Grand Forks; special daughter, Pam (Irvin) Hamm of Goodridge; eight brothers, Harvey (Bonnie), James (Karen) and Charles of Cass Lake, Eugene (Avis) of Goodridge, Earl (Diane) of Thief River Falls, Carl (Kathy) of Onigum and Robert and Michael (Judy) of Minneapolis; seven sisters, Myrtle Woods of Oklee, Norma McMurran of Walker, Beverly (Virgil) Wright of Columbia Falls, Mont. and Denice Croaker, Shirley Van Dyke, Joyce (Daniel) Morris and Sandra "Sandy" Ryan, all of Cass Lake; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, David; a granddaughter, Dawn Vezina; and one brother, Eugene.
