Gladys Vedum, 88

Thief River Falls - Gladys Vedum, 88, died Friday, December 19, 1997 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 26 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Curtis Anderson officiating. Audrey Hanson will be the organist. Soloists will be Jan Nyflot and Ruth Holm, and Lauren, Lindsay and Natalie Holm will perform a trio. Casketbearers will be Mark Hanson, Gary Hanson, Richard Wold, Robert Wold, Paul Wold and Jon Holm. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls is in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys B. Wold was born September 26, 1909 in Adgar township of Marshall County to Ingvald and Alma (Bredeson) Wold. She was baptized at home as an infant and confirmed at Satesdal Lutheran Church. She attended District 121, Sunnyside School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1927. Gladys attended college in Bemidji for one year before returning to Thief River Falls where she worked for a time at Jung's Bakery. She later worked at JC Penney and for a long time at the Thief River Falls Utility office.

On July 26, 1958 Gladys was united in marriage to Jesse Vedum at Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Jesse died on January 27, 1992. In October of 1991 she moved to Valley Home. She moved to the Karlstad Nursing Home in February of 1992 and to Oakland Park Nursing home in June of 1992.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church. She loved to share her faith and was given to hospitality.

Gladys is survived by one step-daughter, Naomi (Reverend Edsel) Lindquist of Thief River Falls; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (Martin) Hanson and Judith Wold, both of Thief River Falls; one brother, Irving Wold of Fergus Falls; two sisters-in-law, Lenore Wold and Verna Wold, both of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse; her parents; two sisters, Myrtle (Hjalmer) Hanson and Bernice (Robert) Trochmann; three brothers, Clarence Wold, Bernard (Evelyn) Wold and Reuben Wold; and one sister-in-law, Esther Wold.
