
Red Lake Falls - Eleanore E. Ulrich, 79, died Thursday, April 8, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Curtis Brooks officiating. Lana Hughes was the organist. Casketbearers were Merlin Carlson, Reverend Frank Ehling, John Hilley, Marvin Kading, Larry Ulrich and Louis Ulrich. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls. The Petterson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Eleanore Edna Steitz was born on September 29, 1919 at Fowler, CA, the daughter of Michael and Ana (Rudolph) Steitz. She was confirmed on April 9, 1933 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fresno, CA. Eleanore attended grade school at Kerman, CA and graduated from Central Union High School in Fresno. She enjoyed music, both vocal and instrumental, and played the clarinet, organ and violin. She also sang at family and community events. She directed the church choir, taught Sunday school and was a 4-H leader.
On April 5, 1941 Eleanore was united in marriage to John H. Ulrich at Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond, CA. The couple lived in Richmond until 1946 when they moved to their farm in River township in Red Lake county. The couple lived and farmed there until they retired. Eleanore and John recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Eleanore is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Kenneth J. (Linda K.) Ulrich and David M. (Linda G.) Ulrich, both of Red Lake Falls; six grandchildren; two brothers, Roy (Eleanor) Steitz of Buxton, ND and Lawrence (Clara) Steitz of Fresno, CA; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ted Steitz; and one sister, Meta Diener Bruch.
