
Thief River Falls - Funeral services were held today, June 11 at Zion Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. for Lelia Trickle.
Lelia Trickle, 75, of Thief River Falls died upon arrival at Northwest Medical Center on Saturday, June 7, 1997.
Rev. Dennis Raymond officiated at the services. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Lelia's granddaughters and daughter-in-law, Shirley Trickle. Casketbearers were Jason Allen, Aaron Broten, Kevin Hillyer, Nick Tunheim, Corey Trickle and Rory Trickle. Honorary casketbearers were all of Leila's grandchildren. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home and one hour prior to services today. A 7 p.m. prayer service was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Lelia Marie Alby was born on September 26, 1921 in New Solum Township, Marshall County to Julius and Lilah (Taggart) Alby. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. At the age of five, her family moved to Drake, ND where she attended the Sunshine Country School. As a young woman, Lelia did housecleaning and ran a small country store in Rosewood. She later moved to Thief River Falls where she did housework in the area.
On November 2, l936 she was united in marriage to Claude Trickle in Thief River Falls. Lelia was a homemaker raising 14 children until her husband's health failed. She was then employed as a cook at 3rd Street Cafe and at the Family Bowl as a cook, alley clerk and bartender for eight years. In l965, she began working for School District 564 and was a cook at Lincoln High School, Knox and Northrop Elementary Schools and the Technical College. Following her retirement, she lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area working as a senior companion for Lutheran Social Services for five years. In l992, she moved to Barnesville, and in l995, she returned to Thief River Falls.
Lelia enjoyed collecting, rummage sales, traveling, playing cards, crafts and visiting. She especially loved taking care of and helping her grandchildren. During her years of employment, she was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Lelia is survived by seven sons and five daughters, Muriel (Phil) Pridham of Wichita Falls, TX, Clyde Trickle of Gilbert, AZ, John (Patty) Trickle of Barnesville, Mary (Ron) Broten of Thief River Falls, Susan (Ronald) Morey of Barnesville, Gaylene Hillyer and Roger Berg of Pelican Rapids, David (Shirley) Trickle of Glyndon, Gloria-Jeannie Simon of Thief River Falls, Paul Trickle of Hawley, Gerald (Margie) Trickle of Moorhead, Jim ( Barbara) Trickle of Thief River Falls and Glen Trickle of Fergus Falls; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, one brother, Allen (Shirley) Alby of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Janet (Wayne) McCoy of Anaheim, CA and Donna Plew of Maitland, FL; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on January 12, l969; one daughter, Geraldine; one son, Larry; and one brother, James Alby.
