
Roseau - Andrew R. Torgerson, 75, died Thursday, March 5, 1998 at the Roseau Area Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at the Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau with Father Ray Polcisko officiating. Interment was at the Spruce Cemetery in Roseau.
Andrew R. Torgerson was born on February 18, 1923 in Thief River Falls, the son of Mary (Dempsey) and Theodore Torgerson. He grew up and attended school in Goodridge. In 1951, he and Marcella Holthuson were married at Bemidji.
He was employed at Hibbing, driving trucks in the iron mines until 1954 when he moved to Montana. He worked in the copper mines there as well as at a number of other jobs. In 1961 he moved to Minneapolis and was employed at Electric Machinery. Andrew retired in 1988. He moved to Alexandria in 1994 and then to Roseau in 1996.
Andrew is survived by three daughters, Arnetta (Dale) Zeidlik of Warroad, Sharon (Milton) Wickstrom of Alexandria and Diane Edberg of Warroad; one son, Andrew Torgerson Jr. of Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Delwyn; three daughters, Charlene, Bonnie and Mary; two grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters.
