Orville Toftner, 90

Warren - Orville Toftner, 90, died Sunday, April 4, 1999 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, April 7) at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.

Visitation was held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6 at Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home in Warren. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Orville G. Toftner was born on March 25, 1909 in Erskine, the son of Oscar and Olga (Skoglund) Toftner. As a young boy he moved with his family to Alma township of Marshall county where he attended school. After school he worked at the Bridgeman Creamery in Crookston.

On September 25, 1934 Orville was united in marriage to C. Evelyn Anderson, and the couple made their home in Warren where he worked for the Warren Creamery. In 1965, they moved to St. Peter where he worked at the State Hospital. They also lived in Mapleton for three years before moving back to Warren in 1979.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Eagles in Thief River Falls.

Orville is survived by his wife, C. Evelyn; two sons, Richard (Jeanne) Toftner of Cincinnati, OH and Lee Toftner of Minneapolis; two daughters, Ione (Lawrence) LaValle of Blaine and Elaine (Wayne) Deyo of Branson, MO; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy, Gordon and Marvin; and two sisters, Mabel and Clara. A00003B1999AR07
