Henrik Thorson, 87

Ulen - Henrik "Hank" Thorson, 87 died Tuesday, October 27, 1998 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 2 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Ulen with Pastor S.S. Urberg officiating. Marcel Klemetson was the organist. Pastor Urberg sang, accompanied by Mrs. Urberg. Casketbearers were LeRoy Hilde, Lynn Hilde, Lowell Hilde Jr., Bill Curnow, Lowell Thorson and David Johnson. Military rites were by the Ulen VFW. Burial was in the Keene Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ulen. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Twin Valley.

Henrik Thorson was born on February 6, 1911 near Clarkfield, the son of Chriss and Berntine (Marken) Thorson. He grew up in the Clarkfield area and began working as a carpenter as a young man. On April 12, 1942 he entered the Army and was stationed in Hawaii until the end of World War II.

Hank was employed as a carpenter, repairing farm buildings, for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In July of 1958 he was united in marriage to Tillie Nelson at Ulen. They made their home in Thief River Falls. After Tillie died in an automobile accident on Labor Day in 1972, Hank moved to a farm near Ulen where he lived with his two brothers and continued with his carpentry work. This past summer he moved into Ulen.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was past commander of the Ulen VFW. He enjoyed woodworking and visiting with his friends.

Hank is survived by one stepdaughter, Alice (Clarence) Johnson of Gilbert; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Alida (Lowell) Hilde of Mountain Iron; and two brothers, Sam Thorson of Ulen and Lawrence (Elna) Thorson of Moorhead.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother; and one sister.
