
Middle River - James M. Thompson, 61, died Saturday, September 11, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10 am. on Thurs., Sept. 16 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Rev. John Jorgensen officiating. Lois Peterson was the organist, and Deland Elseth was the soloist. Casketbearers were Rick Korpi, Greg Kilen, Laurel Moe, Gordon Peterson, Dick Jones and Earl Brekkestran. Interment was in Mickinock Cemetery in Wannaska. Arrangements were with the Collins Funeral Home of Middle River.
James Marvin Thompson was born on October 23, 1937 near Wannaska, the son of Herman and Stella (Nelson) Thompson. He grew up and attended school in the Wannaska area. For several years, he worked for various area farmers.
On October 30, 1959, he was united in marriage to Diane Schenkey at Middle River. "J.T." worked on road construction, and the family resided in the Twin Cities until 1975 when they moved to Middle River. He has resided in Middle River since that time, spending the winter months in Apache Junction, AZ.
James is survived by one son, David (Karleen) of Middle River; two daughters, Joni (Troy) Peterson of Middle River and Janis (Gary) Leader of Newfolden; eight grandchildren; one brother, Roy (Joyce) in Wisconsin; two sisters, Arlene (Stanley) Carlson of Wannaska and Bernice (Art) Knudsen of Poplar, MT; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clinton and Walter. A00003B1999SP22
