Agnes Thibert, 91

Red Lake Falls - Agnes Thibert, 91, died Wednesday, September 1, 1999 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, September 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Kathie Knott was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Rose Reed. Special music was also presented by St. Joseph's Church Choir. Casketbearers were Bryan LaHaise, Tim Thibert, Aaron Thibert, Gary Thibert, Steve Thibert, John Thibert, Jim Thibert, Pat Thibert and Greg Thibert. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with the Petterson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Agnes Frances LaBonte was born on October 10, 1907 in Gentilly, the daughter of Francis and Anilda (Desgrosellier) LaBonte. She grew up and attended school in Crookston.

On September 30, 1925 she was united in marriage to George A. Thibert at Crookston. The couple resided in Crookston until 1935 when they moved to Plummer, operating a garage there for five years. In 1940 they moved to Red Lake Falls where they owned and operated Thibert's Chevrolet and Buick. George died on January 30, 1974.

Agnes was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, its Guild, St. Anne's Society and the French Club.

Survivors include three sons, Vern (Donna) Thibert of Snohomish, WA, Roger (JoAnn) Thibert of Red Lake Falls, and Gerald (Darlene) Thibert of Mentor; one daughter Nancy (Harold) LaHaise of Little Canada; one daughter-in-law, Betty Thibert of Red Lake Falls; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Dwight Thibert; and three sisters, Edna Knudsen, Nora Foster and Marie LaChance. A00003B1999SP08
