
Grygla - Reuben Tengesdal, 85, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998 at his home in Grygla.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with Pastor Roberta Johnson officiating. Special music was provided by Joy Nordby. Casketbearers were Duane Langness, Mike Mohr, Mike Rudebusch, Duane Gram, Russell Gilthvedt and Otto Hagen. Burial was held in Northwood Cemetery in Northwood township of Beltrami county. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Reuben Clifford Tengesdal was born on October 14, 1912 in Northwood township of Beltrami county, the son of Ole and Serine (Stennes) Tengesdal. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended rural school in Northwood township. As a young man he worked on farms around the Grygla area.
On March 19, 1942, Reuben entered the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was held prisoner of war in Central Europe and was later honorably discharged on October 9, 1945. Following his discharge, he returned to farming. In 1977 Reuben moved into Grygla and remained active with woodworking until the time of his death.
Reuben is survived by three sisters, Myrtle Eggen of Grygla, Viola Leibelt of New Hope and Orpha Sorteberg of Roseau; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Chester Tengesdal; and one sister, Margaret Tengesdal.
