
Ramsey - John E. Taylor, 90, died Friday, May 1, 1998 at the home of his daughter in Ramsey.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middle River with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Mitch Walski was the organist. Soloist was Kevin Nelson. Danny Taylor was the reader, and Marcy and Eddie Nelson were the giftbearers. Casketbearers were Michael Taylor, Willie Anderson, Danny Taylor, Shannon Dirks, Hugh Nelson and Eric Milbrandt. Interment was in St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery in Strandquist. The Collins Funeral Home of Middle River was in charge of the arrangements.
John Ervin Taylor was born on January 27, 1908 in New Maine township of Marshall county near Newfolden, the son of Charlie and Mabel (Fish) Taylor. He attended school and grew to manhood near Newfolden and was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He worked on a farm near Argyle for several years.
On June 17, 1935 he was united in marriage to Catherine Landreville at Argyle. The couple farmed in New Maine township, and John also worked as a lumberjack for many years. He also worked for Nels Nelson clearing roadways. He greatly enjoyed deer hunting with his friends.
After Catherine died on May 25, 1965, John moved to Strandquist where he worked as a bartender. In 1975 he moved to Ramsey where he made his home with his daughter, Linda, and her family.
He is survived by two sons, Gordon of Middle River and Wally (Mary Ann) of Rosemont; one daughter, Linda (Gary) Dirks of Ramsey; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one daughter, Mabel Joanne; one great-grandson, Nicholas; six brothers and four sisters.
