Lorraine Swenson, 76

Thief River Falls - Lorraine Swenson, 76, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 1998 at Our Saviour's Free Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Pastor Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness was the organist, and Mya Zutz was the soloist. Casketbearers were Eldon and Corrine Swenson, Neil Gillespie and Marlys Gillespie, and Avis and Darrell Brandon. Burial was in Holt Cemetery at Holt. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Lorraine Gloria Davidson was born October 29, 1921 in Marshall County, the daughter of Edward and Cora (Knutson) Davidson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in rural Marshall County.

On September 16, 1940 Lorraine was united in marriage to Lewis Swenson at Newfolden. The couple farmed in the Ringbo community until 1995 when they moved to the Skylite Apartments in Thief River Falls. Lewis died on March 24, 1997.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and its ladies aid and the Holt Keenagers. She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, collecting clippings for her many scrapbooks and spending time with her family.

Lorraine is survived by two daughters, Janice (Gene) Henrickson of Thief River Falls and Gloria (DeWayne) Miska of Euclid; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn (Helen) Davidson of Moorhead; one sister, Carol (Jack) Comstock of Malung; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one grandson, Ryan Miska; and one great-grandson, Seth Marquis.
