Lewis Swenson, 81

Thief River Falls - Lewis Swenson, 81, died Monday, March 24, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Arrangements were with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 27, 1997 at Our Saviour's Free Lutheran Church of Thief River Falls with Rev. Randy Moe officiating. Burial was in Holt Cemetery.

Casektbearers were George Hill, Phil Kvalog, Robert Olson, Eldon Swenson, Allen Swenson, Darrell Swenson, David Myhrer and Neil Gillespie.

Lewis Swenson was born on August 28, 1915 in Douglas County, the son of Gullick and Christine (Gullickson) Swenson. The family moved to the Ringbo community when Lewis was a young child. He attended rural school at Ringbo. On September 16, 1940 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Davidson in Newfolden. The couple farmed and Lewis worked for his brother Albert in the plumbing business.

He was recognized as Outstanding Senior Citizen at the Marshall County Fair. He was very musical and enjoyed playing the accordion and organ. He also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.

He is survived by wife Lorraine; daughter Janice (Gene) Henrickson of Thief River Falls, and Gloria (DeWayne) Miska of Euclid; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Hilda Sorter, and Lena Strong; Sam, Richard, Martin, Hilmar, Oscar, Arthur and Albert; grandson Ryan Miska; and great-grandson Seth Marquis.
