Inga Swenson, 102

Duluth - Inga Swenson, 102, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at Viewcrest Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 21 at Bell Brothers Funeral Chapel in Duluth with Chaplain Patrick Carey officiating. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Inga Louise Hushagen was born on November 26, 1897 in Eden township of Polk county near Trail, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Anderson) Hushagen.

On December 16, 1915, she married August M. Swenson. The couple made their home in Trail and later Newfolden where they raised their family. While living in Newfolden, Inga was a member of Newfolden Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 20 years. In the 1940s, Inga and August moved to Minneapolis where she was employed in the kitchen at Kresge's Dime Store for more than 10 years. August died in August of 1978. In the late 1980s, Inga moved to Thief River Falls, living there until 1998 when she moved to Duluth.

She enjoyed quilt making, crocheting, knitting and crafts.

Inga is survived by three sons, Pervin P. (Carol) Swenson of Coquille, Ore., Kenneth A. (Lorrale) Swenson of Warren and Loren M. (Angie) Swenson of Proctor; one daughter, Arlene (Richard) Luoto of Duluth; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, four brothers, one grandson and one infant granddaughter.
