
Eagan - Kevin Swanson, 42, died Sunday, October 31, 1999 at his home in Eagan.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 6 at St. Pauli Lutheran Church with Rev. Terri Cuppett officiating. Faye Auchenpaugh was the organist, and soloists were Rev. Terri Cuppett and Joel Kezar. Casketbearers were Rick Swanson, Brett Torkelson, Charissa Larson, Trevor Swanson, Jani Weibolt, Jerod Haugen, Kelsey Blowers, Tim Swanson, Cory Bugge and Natalie Swanson Taylor. Burial was in St. Pauli Cemetery in Rocksbury township of Pennington county.
Kevin Alan Swanson was born on June 25, 1957 in Thief River Falls, the son of Oliver "Skip" and Patricia (Torkelson) Swanson. He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire. He attended elementary school at Northrop School and graduated with honors from Lincoln High School in 1976. As a youth he enjoyed showing and riding horses, especially his Morgan named "Pride" and while at Lincoln, Kevin played basketball and participated in track.
Following high school, he attended Northland Community College for two years. During high school and college, Kevin worked with his dad on construction. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology and master's degree in business administration. While in college at Moorhead, he also worked for Basin Electric and Acme Electric.
After completing his education, Kevin moved to St. Cloud where he was employed with Makita Industries. He also worked for Yamaha Corporation in Minneapolis and was presently employed at Valvoline Automotive Corporation. He was also currently involved in entrepreneurial adventures in corporate finance and private investments.
Kevin was united in marriage to Joy Bradbury in 1984 at Grafton, ND.
He was an avid and competitive downhill skier who enjoyed boating and waterskiing.
Kevin is survived by his parents, "Skip" and Pat Swanson of Thief River Falls; one brother, Brad Swanson of Baltimore, MD; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George C. and Katherine Swanson and Anton and Ellen Torkelson, and three uncles, Chester, Donald and Dennis Swanson. A00003B1999NV10
