
Greenbush - Annie Svir, 88, died Friday, February 20, 1998 at the Greenbush Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 24 at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Badger. Interment was at Barnett National Cemetery in Badger. The Helgeson Funeral Chapel of Roseau was in charge of the arrangements.
Annie Raichl was born July 5, 1909 at Jolliet, IL to John and Rosalla Raichl. She grew to womanhood in Poplar Grove township near Badger where she helped her parents clear land for their home.
On August 28, 1926 Annie was united in marriage to Eddie Svir. They lived on and farmed Eddie's parents' farm in Barnett township. They later owned the farm. Eddie died in 1960. Annie worked at the Pete Sjoberg home in Badger and J.L. Delmore home in Roseau. When Annie's mother died in 1970, Annie moved to Strathcona and lived with her brother John. She has lived at the Greenbush Nursing Home since 1994.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Badger, was a charter member of the Badger VFW Auxiliary and a member of the WFLA Lodge.
Annie is survived by two sons, Godfred (Beatrice) Svir of Thief River Falls and John (Violet) Svir of Badger; four daughters, Barbara (Russell) McFarlane of Roseau, Vivian Peterson of Badger, Rosemarie (John) Massey of Woodbridge, VA and Agnes Fox of Roseau; one daugher-in-law, Irene Svir of Badger; 25 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mary Pesek of Boone, IA, Emma Gust of Gatzke, Lillian Ellefson of Strathcona, Agnes Stehlick of Portland, OR and Frances Forst of Strathcona.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Jerry; two sons-in-law; one brother, John and three sisters, Helen, Elsie and Rose.
