Clifford Sustad, 86, died Friday, August 11, 2000 at the CNC unit of
Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, August 16) at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking with Rev. Merton Roley officiating. Diane Waterworth will be the organist, and the soloist will be Rev. Mike Schendel. Casketbearers will be Dan Warness, Charles Olson, Keith Sustad, Dan Sustad, Gloria Danter and Wanda Olson. Burial will be in Viking Cemetery in Viking township of Marshall county.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Clifford Theodore Sustad was born on August 27, 1913 at rural Viking, the son of Gustav and Ella (Loge) Sustad. He grew up and attended a country school west of Viking. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II and served from 1942 until 1945 before returning home to Viking where he resumed farming.
Clifford was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Viking.
He enjoyed singing and sang with a quartet for a few years. After returning from the service, he received a pilot's license, and he especially enjoyed flying.
Survivors include a brother, Glen (Ella) of Stephen.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Warness; and one brother, Randolph. A00003B2000AG16
