
Mentor - Jerome "Jerry" Super, 80, died Monday, July 6, 1998 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor with Father David Super officiating. Concelebrants were the priests of the Crookston Diocese. Melissa Proulx was the organist. Song leaders were Jim Dottenwhy and Sister Mardelle MOHS, OSB. Duane Arness was the soloist, and Marilyn Arness was the accompanist.
Casketbearers were Tom Super, Rob Super, Jon Buggy, Thomas John Super, Richard Arness and Krissi Super. Honorary casketbearers were Russ Maves, Ron Sebenaler, Loe Musil, Don Snyder, Lynn Keifenheim, Ed Neibauer, Dale LaCombe, Don Bruggeman, Lenn Smorin, Larry Then, Dick Bott, David Bachand, Phil Backowski, Duane Arness, Pete Benoy and David Monson. Military Honors were provided by American Legion Post 22 of Red Lake Falls. Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mentor.
Jerome "Jerry" Vincent Super was born on September 28, 1917 in Little Falls, the son of John and Elizabeth (Wilinski) Super. He was a graduate of Swanville High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On January 29, 1949 he was united in marriage to Eris Bruggeman in Oklee. The couple lived in Erskine and Mentor before moving to Maple Lake in 1954 where they have since made their home. Jerry worked as an agent/telegrapher for the Great Northern Railroad for 22 years and the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1981. Jerry was also an independent insurance agent and owner/operator of Super Realty in the Maple Lake area.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the American Legion of Mentor and Knights of Columbus.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Eris; three sons, Thomas (KayDell) of Mentor, Robert (Mary) of St. Paul and Reverend David of Moorhead; one daughter, Cathy (Jon) Buggy of Minnetonka; eight grandchildren; one brother, Simon Super of Flensburg; and two sisters, Betty Smorin of San Diego, CA and Mary Jane Then of Rice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Paul, Ben and Eugene.
