
Tower-Soudan - Ole Sunsdahl, 82, formerly of Goodridge, died Wednesday, August 23, 2000 at Virginia Regional Medical Center in Virginia.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Soudan with Rev. Brenda Pfeifly officiating. Interment was at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 28, in Lakeview Cemetery in Tower. Anderson's Landmark Funeral Home of Virginia was in charge of the arrangements.
Ole Sunsdahl was born on June 26, 1918 in Star township of Pennington county, the son of Knute and Thea (Selmanson) Sunsdahl. During the depression, Ole served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
On November 14, 1939, he married Inga May Holen at Gully. Ole farmed with his wife near Goodridge from 1939 until 1954 when they moved to the Tower-Soudan area. He worked for Foley Construction building Erie Mining Company. He later worked for Erie Mining Company, Soudan Underground Mine and finally, Reserve Mining Company, retiring in 1981.
Ole was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Soudan where he kept the church lawn mowed for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Inga; two daughters, Carol (Luc) LeBon of Edina and Wanda (Jim) Fisher of Biwabik; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin (Gertrude) Sunsdahl of Hoyt Lakes; one sister, Helen Moen of Bagley; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Ole was preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, Harley and Ursala Sunsdahl; one daughter, Julie E. Nelson; his parents; two sisters, Julie Larson and Selma Sanders; two brothers, Henry (Hank) Sunsdahl and Kenneth Sunsdahl. A00003B2000AG30
