
Norwood Young America - Richard Sund, 52, died Monday, January 27, 1997 at his home in Norwood Young America.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Margie Iverson was the organist, and Vernon Iverson was the soloist. All of Rick's family and friends were honorary casketbearers. Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Richard Charles Sund was born on January 15, 1945 in Thief River Falls, the son of Axel and Ida (Levang) Sund. He grew up in the Goodridge area and attended school there. He served in the United States Armed Forces from 1962 to 1964 with most of his active military time spent overseas. He lived in Washington for a number of years before moving to Norwood Young America in l986. On September 6, 1985 he was united in marriage to Lynette Sonnicksen in Shakopee.
Richard was a past member of American Legion Post 40 and 8 in Thief River Falls and was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. He enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, and had a county rock band for a number of years. He also like to fish, hunt, play electronic darts, watch his children play sports and hug his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lynette; sons Larry (Mary Jo) and Brian (Vicki) of Norwood Young America; one daughter, Nikki at home; brother, Ronald (Kathy) of Hesperia, CA: sisters, Eileen (Walter) Hillman of Warren, Edith Heden of Thief River Falls and Wylma (Earl) Allen of Minot, ND; and five grandchildren.
He was proceded in death by his parents.
