
Newfolden - Delores A. Stromlund, 70, died Monday, October 12, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 16 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Reverend Ollie Urdahl officiating. Kathy Rokke was the organist, and Connie Folden and Kathy Rokke presented a duet. Casketbearers were Aaron Stromlund, Chad Stromlund, Josh Stromlund, Kevin Stromlund, Ryan Stromlund and Kurt Stromlund. Honorary casketbearers were all of Delores' grandchildren. Burial was in Lorenson Cemetery in Huss township of Roseau county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Delores Ann Lorenson was born on July 4, 1928 in Huss township of Roseau county, the daughter of Rasmus and Esther (Strandberg) Lorenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Gustav Adolph Lutheran Church in Strathcona. She attended school in the area.
On June 27, 1947 Delores was united in marriage to Edwin Stromlund in Thief River Falls by Pastor Carl F. Johnson. From 1947 until 1964 the couple farmed in Huss township of Roseau county. The couple then moved to Greenbush. In 1970 they moved to Thief River Falls. They later moved to a farm near Newfolden.
She was employed in food service in Lincoln, NE before returning to the area. She worked at various restaurants and for a while at Arctic Cat. She was employed at the Green bush Public School and at Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School as a custodian until 1981.
She enjoyed ice fishing, raising flowers, gardening and many sports.
Delores is survived by her husband, Edwin; three children, Loren (Elaine) of Isanti, Darrell (Debby) of Roseau, and Denae (Bradley) Blawat of Viking; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Edward Lorenson of Strathcona, Melvin (Jane) Lorenson of Greenbush, Eldor (Charmaine) Lorenson of Strathcona, and Randall (Dolores) Lorenson of Strathcona; two sisters, Lillian (Melvin) Koehnlein of Greenbush and Lila (Kennis) Anderson of Greenbush; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clifford; and two sister-in-laws.
