Marvin Stromgren, 84

Lake Bronson - Marvin Stromgren, 84, died Friday, August 15, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 19 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church at Lake Bronson with Reverend Mary Carol and Reverend Cordell Strug officating. Music for the service was provided by Lenore Olson, organist and Lyndon Johnson, soloist. Casketbearers were John Akerlund, Wayne Stromgren, Roger Stromgren, Reuben Stromgren, Ronald Stromgren, Larry Bogestad and Joe Clark. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery at Lake Bronson. The Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock was in charge of the arrangements.

Marvin Stromgren was born March 2, 1913 in Jupiter township of Kittson County, the son of Albin and Mathilda (Dahl) Stromgren. He grew up and attended rural school there. He was baptized and confirmed at West Emmaus Lutheran Church. On November 22, 1940 he was united in marriage to Anna Grahn at Roseau.

Marvin was a lifelong resident of Kittson County. He lived and farmed in Jupiter township until retirement. In 1990, he moved to Norway township.

He became a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lake Bronson in 1951. He served on the church councils of Emmaus and Zion Lutheran Churches. He also served on the boards of Lake Bronson Farmers Elevator, Lake Bronson Farmers Union Oil Company, Kittson County Crop Improvement Assn. and the Red River Valley Potato Council.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Anna of Lake Bronson; two daughters, Leona (Jim) Brennan of Chattanooga, TN and Juliann Stromgren of Brooklyn Center; one son, Dean (Angie) Stromgren of Lake Bronson; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Elphie Bogestad of Karlstad.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Signe Stromgren, Nancy Stromgren, Esther Stromgren and Esther Mattson; and three brothers, Gottfrid, Carl and Leonard.
