James Stolp, 75

Greenbush - James M. Stolp, 75, died on Friday, November 27, 1998 at his home near Greenbush.

Services will be held today (Wednesday, December 2) at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Special music will be provided by Jeanne Novacek and Michelle Kern. Lois and Leonard Chrzanowski and Marlene Pulczinski will be the eucharistic ministers. Giftbearers will be his grandchildren, Crystal, James and Theresa Gaalaas.

Casketbearers will be Tim Kasprowicz, Roger Bernat, Larry Borgen, Jo Mar Bernat, Val Bernat Jr. and Raymond Schaller. Interment will be in Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Greenbush.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Collins Funeral Home in Greenbush. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services today.

James Martin Stolp was born on December 12, 1923 at Forest Lake, the son of Albert and Minnie Stolp. He attended school and grew up in Forest Lake. He worked as a beekeeper at Forest Lake and in the Greenbush area.

On November 23, 1943 he was united in marriage to Ann Bernat at Greenbush. The couple made their home at Forest Lake before moving to Thief River Falls where Jim was employed in the roundhouse by the Soo Line Railroad for a year. The couple then moved to Greenbush where he was a beekeeper and worked at various other jobs.

In 1948, Jim began what is now Jim's Game Supply which he and his family have since owned and operated. He also owned and operated a cafe in Baudette from which he retired eight years ago.

Jim was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush and the Thief River Falls Eagles Club.

An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed fishing.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ann; one son, Robert of Greenbush; one daughter, Rita (Hugh) Gaalaas of Wyoming, MN; three grandchildren; one brother, Walter of Forest Lake; one sister, Elsie (Louis) Rehbein of Lino Lakes; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James "Tub" in October of 1990; three brothers, Harry, Alfred and Pete; and two sisters, Florence and Helen.
