
Thief River Falls - Olaf Stolaas, 93, died Monday, March 22, 1999 at his home in Deer Park township of Pennington county.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, with Reverend Clarence Johnson officiating. Marian Marquis will be the organist, and vocalists will be Vernon Iverson and Anna Kriel. Casketbearers will be Gregory Burstad, Robert Burstad, Terry Burstad, Donald Henrickson, Gene Henrickson, Gordon Henrickson, Howard Henrickson, Howard Myrum, Selmer Myrum and Howard Stolaas. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Mayfield township of Pennington county.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. with an 8 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, March 25 at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Olaf Stolaas was born on November 21, 1905 in Deer Park township of Pennington county, the son of Sjur and Bergit (Olsdatter-Berg) Stolaas. He was baptized as an infant on the family farm and confirmed at Oak Park Lutheran Church. He attended School District 34 in Deer Park township and one year at Eldred. Following school, he farmed.
On June 11, 1932 Olaf was united in marriage to Beatrice Bammerud in Oklee. The couple made their home in Deer Park township. Beatrice died on August 29, 1988.
On May 19, 1989 Olaf married Clara Loiland Hauger at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge. For several years, the couple resided on Olaf's family farm during the winter and at Clara's house in Big Falls, MT during the summer. They made the farm their permanent home in 1993.
He was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway.
Olaf is survived by his wife, Clara; one son, Orlan (Clarice) of Oklee; one daughter, Beulah (Lester) Vad of Oklee; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice; his parents; three sisters, Inga Henrickson, Thilda Hedeen and Gunda Myrum; one brother, Bernt Stolaas; and several nieces and nephews.
