River Falls - Cora Stigen, 69, died Monday, December 13, 1999 at
the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 17 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist. Casketbearers will be Jeff Lannoye Sr., Jeff Lannoye Jr., Gerry Kiesow, Shane Kiesow, Gary Hasby and Christopher Stigen. Honorary casketbearers will be all of Cora's friends from bingo. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 16 at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Cora Sylvana Hasby was born on October 17, 1930 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Mikkelson) Hasby. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended school in Thief River Falls. She was united in marriage to Ernest Stigen, and together they raised ten children in Thief River Falls.
For many years Cora worked as a clerk at Danny's Grocery Store. She enjoyed staying at her son-in-law's farm, gardening, crocheting, reading, tending her house plants, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest of Pioneer Nursing Home in Erskine; four daughters, Kathy Kiesow of Brandon, SD, Laurie (Terry) Fayette of Thief River Falls, Gwen Stigen of St. Hilaire and Cherie (Kurt) Leader of Thief River Falls; four sons, Jeff (LaVon) Lannoye, Greg Stigen and Lonnie Stigen, all of Thief River Falls, and Gordy Hasby of Red Lake Falls; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Howard Hasby of Thief River Falls, Donald (Doris) Hasby of Hartford, WI, and Joe (Lynette) Hasby of Thief River Falls; six sisters, Esther Vik of Thief River Falls, Ivy (Fran) Miller of Iron Ridge, WI, Shirley Maurer of Staples, Judy Cameron of Red Lake Falls, Karen Flaten of Omaha, NE, and Joyce Hasby of St. Hilaire; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Cora was preceded in death by one brother, Burton Hasby; her parents; two sons, Nicholas Lannoye and Clifton Stigen; one daughter, Sue Axtell; one grandson, Christopher Fayette; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
