Patrick Stephens, 22

Strathcona - Patrick Stephens, 22, died Saturday, April 22, 2000 in an automobile accident near Greenbush.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Rev. Ernie Christensen officiating. Joan Haugen was the organist, and special music was provided by Marie Olson. Casketbearers were Jason, Darin and Brian Bertilrud, Cody Schmalz, Rory Hamness and Ross Waage. Interment was in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush with the Gieseke Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Patrick Mark Stephens was born on May 4, 1977 at Greenbush, the son of Mark and Karen (Miller) Stephens. He attended school in Greenbush where he played basketball and was active in the Future Farmers of America. He graduated from Greenbush-Middle River High School in 1995. Patrick worked on the home farm with his father and during the winter months, for Keith Burkel Trucking of Greenbush.

As a youth, he was active in 4-H. He was also a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where attended Sunday school and participated in Luther League.

Pat enjoyed carpentry and helped build and repair buildings on his farm. He was also good at plumbing and electrical work.

He especially enjoyed the outdoors, farming, hunting and fishing and also enjoyed playing pool and basketball with his friends.

Pat is survived by his parents, Mark and Karen Stephens of Strathcona; two sisters, Doreen (Jonathan) Maashio of Carrollton, Tex. and Katrina Stephens of Strathcona; four nieces and nephews; his grandmothers, Gladys Stephens of Yakima, Wash. and Carol Miller (Harold) Roberts of Greenbush; and uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Myron Miller and Richard "Choppy" Stephens. A00003B2000AP26
