
Thief River Falls - Juliette Stenerson, 94, formerly of Moorhead, died Thursday, October 5, 2000 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services
were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 9, at Trinity Lutheran Chruch
in Moorhead with Rev. Robert Berthold officiating. Michael Olson was
the organist, and the soloist was David Lindell. Casketbearers were
Juliette's grandchildren, Julie Stenerson-Chaffins, John Stenerson,
Jay Stenerson, Leslie Stenerson, Penny Zmolek, Kandy Hagen, Stephen
Hagen, Timothy Hagen, Nikki Bilz, Hillary Teie and Kimberly Huson.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead.
Rev. John Wollenzien officiated at the prayer service held Saturday evening at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and Jane Olson and Diane Johnson were soloists. Visitation was also held Sunday at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
Juliette Pauline Ostby was born on January 17, 1906 in Polk county near McIntosh, the daughter of Christian and Bertha (Skara) Ostby. She grew up and attended school in McIntosh. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After graduating from high school in 1924 and attending one year of normal training in McIntosh, Juliette taught country school at rural Eldred for one year before moving to Moorhead where, prior to her marriage, she worked for the Clay County Clerk of Court.
On June 13, 1928, she married Gorden Stenerson at McIntosh. The couple made their home in Borup until 1946 when they moved to Moorhead. In 1968, the couple moved to Fort Myers Beach, Fla. and spent the summers in Moorhead. After Gorden died in June of 1980, Juliette continued to live in Florida and Moorhead. In 1994, she moved to Catered Living at Eventide in Moorhead, and in November of 1997, she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Juliette was active in Lutheran women's organizations in Borup, Moorhead and Fort Myers Beach, Fla, teaching Sunday school in Borup and Moorhead and singing in the choir at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fort Myers Beach. Juliette was a charter member of St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary and continued to volunteer there until she was 89 years old. She was also a Gray Lady with the Red Cross at Veterans Hospital in Fargo for many years.
Juliette is survived by a son, Robert (Georgiann) Stenerson of Moorhead and Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Linda (Karl) Hagen of Detroit Lakes and Janet (Gordon) Peterson of Thief River Falls; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Emily Stenerson and Mathilda Dale; and two brothers, Carl Ostby and Kalmer Ostby. A00003B2000OC11
