Ardith Stenen, 79

Minneapolis - Ardith Stenen, 79, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Sunday, February 7, 1999 at Augustana Nursing Home in Minneapolis.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 1999 at the Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Stenen officiating. Grace Hammer provided organ and vocal music. Casketbearers were Danny Stenen, Eric Stenen, Jonathan Sevald, Aaron Stenen, Jason Stenen and Steve Sletten. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Ardith Lenora Sletten was born on October 17, 1919 in Grygla, the daughter of Olaf and Mabel Sletten. She grew up in the Grygla area.

On July 4, 1939 she was united in marriage to Joseph Stenen. The couple lived in Grygla and Grand Forks before moving to Minneapolis in 1950.

Joseph retired in 1975 and suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after the couple moved to Thief River Falls. Ardith continued to live in Thief River Falls and worked at Northwest Medical Center. Due to health problems she moved to Minneapolis to reside with her children in 1992. Ardith lived the last few months of her life at the Augustana Home in Minneapolis. She enjoyed music, gardening, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.

Ardith is survived by two daughters, Judy (Alvin) Sevald of Minneapolis and Jane Stenen of Edina; five sons, Arnie (Alice) Inver Grove Heights, Vernon (Sue) of Burnsville, Larry of Edina, Gary (Julie) of Savage, and John (Terry) of Avoca; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Maidment of Cudahy, WI and Bernice Sistad of Grygla; six brothers, Marvin of Thief River Falls, Bill (Junice) of Bethel, Orvis (Lorraine) of Plummer, Howard (Anna Mae) of Thief River Falls, Clarence (Marilyn) of Plummer, and Wilford (Phyllis) of Thief River Falls; two sisters-in-law; special friend, Bob Magnuson of Hoyt Lakes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Ernie; her parents; and four brothers, Melford, Harvey, Orin and Willard. A00003B1999FB17
