Catheryn Steiger, 61

Minneapolis - Catheryn Margaret Steiger, 61, died on Sunday, October 5, 1997 at the Crystal Lake Nursing Home in Robbinsdale.

Funeral services will be held today, October 8 at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Curtis Anderson officiating. Special music will be provided by organist Carolyn Trontvet and soloist Brett Anderson. Casketbearers will be Rob Hallstrom, Greg Lien, Jim Hagl and Jim Evans. Honorary casketbearers will be her granddaughters &endash; Kasie Hallstrom, Marchelle Lien, Emma Hagl and Anna Evans. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.

Catheryn Margaret Larson was born May 4, 1936 in Oklee, the daughter of Alfred and Selma (Erickson) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee. She graduated from Oklee High School in 1954 and attended Teacher's Training in Thief River Falls.

In 1956 she married Douglass Steiger. Catheryn worked as a teacher at Meadowlark School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls and the Brooklyn Park Evangelical Free Church.

Catheryn is survived by four daughters, MaJeana (Rob) Hallstrom of Plymouth, Pamela (Greg) Lien of Evergreen, CO, Angela (Jim) Hagl of Plymouth and Vicki (Jim) Evans of New Hope; four granddaughters; her mother, Selma Larson of Oklee; one sister, Elaine Williamson of Missoula, MT; two brothers, Edward Larson of Oklee and John Larson of Crookston; two step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Anne Wilde; and one grandson, Jonathan Lien.
