Falls - Deloris "Spence" Spencer, 62, died Wednesday, November 1,
2000 at Dakota Heartland Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Dennis Raymond officiating. Phyllis Dalager was the organist, and Diane Johnson was the vocalist. Cross bearer was Dan Lien. Casketbearers were Myles Olson, Aaron Ness, Ryan Ness, Howard Person, Mike Person and David Person. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Deloris Vivian Fjerstad was born on August 27, 1938 in Fosston, the daughter of Peter and Lillian (Emerson) Fjerstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Gonvick. Deloris attended country schools in Queen and Eden townships and graduated from Fosston High School in 1955. She was employed at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and Dakota Hardware in Fargo, N.D.
On March 11, 1961, she was united in marriage to Raymond Spencer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Gonvick. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Deloris worked at Northwestern Hospital in Thief River Falls for 23 years. She also worked at Borsheim Printing and the Elks and was currently employed at Pennington County Abstract and Title.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for several years.
Deloris enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, canning, weekends at her family farm and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; two daughters, Dayna (Dean) Bruggeman and Jenny (special friend Darren Brein), both of Thief River Falls; a son, Jeff (Rhonda) Spencer of Grand Forks, N.D.; three grandsons; two sisters, Lois (Paul Grover) Wilmo of Chisago City and Elaine (Tony) Ness of Embarrass; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents. A00003B2000NV11
