
Norfolk, VA - Clifford M. Sparby, 77, died March 27, 1997 at Norfolk Sentara Nursing Home. Memorial Services were held April 2 at First Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with Rev. James Cobb and Rev. Marshall Mauney officiating.
Clifford Sparby was born at Grygla the son of Amelia and Ole Sparby. He attended grade school in Valley township, rural Grygla and high school in Goodridge.
He served as co-pilot in Italy in World War II. After the service, he attended school at the University of Minnestoa. He taught industrial arts in Norfolk, VA schools.
He was a leader in Explorer Scout Troop, member of the Education Association on the national, state and local levels. He served as treasurer of District Retired Teachers Association for years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by four sisters: Ella Willman and Edel Nordvick, both of San Francisco area; Alma Marx and Lena Cumberland of Minneapolis; three brothers: Oscar Sparby of Minneapolis; Alton and Cleon Sparby of Grygla; 25 nieces and nephews.
