Helen Sorenson, 87

Thief River Falls - Helen Sorenson, 87, formerly of Oklee, died Friday, February 13, 1998 at Oakland Park Nursing Home In Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 17 at 2 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee with Reverend Robert Paulson officiating. Dana McGeary was the organist, and the soloist was Erica McGeary. Casketbearers were Leslie Foldoe, Dennis Brinkman, Ronald Linder, Orrin Linder, Steve Linder and Dennis Linder. Honorary casketbearers was Helen's caregiver, Judy Opdahl. Burial was held at the church cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Helen Linder was born on January 10, 1911 in Garnes township near Oklee, the daughter of Gust and Bertine (Anderson) Linder. She was raised and attended rural school in Garnes township. She was baptized at Ebenezer Lutheran Church and confirmed at Salem Luthean Church.

Helen worked on the family farm until she was united in marriage to Ralph Sorenson on October 28, 1933 at Oklee. The couple lived and farmed in Garnes township until Ralph died on June 11, 1989. Helen lived on the farm until March of 1995 when she moved to an apartment in Thief River Falls. She entered Oakland Park Nursing Home two weeks ago.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and its women's group and the Farmers Union.

Helen is survived by five daughters, Bernice Klenk of Middle River, Doris (Elmer) Hanson of Brooks, Rose (Harvey) Delage of Thief River Falls, Laura (Duane) Pederson of Williston, ND and Carol (Korydon) Chervestad of Oklee; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two son-in-laws, Marlyn Johnson and Laverne Klenk; one granddaughter, Adeline Chervestad; two sisters, Anna Foldoe and Mabel Foldoe; and five brothers, Louis Linder, Frank Linder, Alvin Linder, Oscar Linder and Helmer Linder.
