Bertha Solheim, 86

McIntosh - Bertha Solheim, 86, formerly of Oklee, died Saturday, January 30, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, February 3) at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Trail, with Reverend Robert Rains officiating. Cindy Bjerklie will be the organist, and duets will be presented by Dorothy Walton and Karen Olson. Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Mark Sundrud, Daniel Jeuch, Chad Nelson, Kevin Jeuch, Jerry Solheim, Nathaniel Nelson, Erick Nelson and Ross Carpenter. Burial will be in the Bethany church cemetery.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church today.

Bertha Eleanor Klove was born September 17, 1912 at Plummer, the daughter of Lars and Christine (Knutson) Klove. She grew up and attended rural school near Plummer. Bertha was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee.

On November 3, 1943 she was united in marriage to Palmer Solheim at Oklee. The couple lived and farmed in Johnson township of Polk county for 53 years. In May of 1995 Bertha entered the McIntosh Manor Nursing Home. Palmer died on October 2, 1995.

She was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Ladies Aid and enjoyed quilting, gardening, animals and nature. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Bertha is survived by six daughters, Corrine Solheim of East Grand Forks, Lynette (Raymond) Sundrud of West Allis, WI, Susan (William) Jeuch of Euclid, and Maxine (Gary) Nelson, Fern (Lyle) Carpenter, and Elaine (Jon) Nelson, all of Bagley; two sons, Warren (Shirley) Solheim of Clearbrook, and Stanley Solheim of Trail; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roy (Ruth) Klove of Detroit Lakes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer; her parents; and two sisters, Selma Bergland and Luella Peterson.
