
Thief River Falls - Irene Solberg, 81, died Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm. on Saturday, January 23 at the Heritage Community Center with Dennis Falb and Craig Winquist presiding. Special music was provided by Ray and Barb Swenson. Casketbearers were Earl Swenson, Keith Swenson, John Erickson, Domonic Solberg, Rocky Jesperson and Rod Larson. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Mayfield township of Pennington county. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Irene M. Swanson was born on August 5, 1917 in Deer Park township of Pennington county, the daughter of Sam B. and Caroline (Skeie) Swanson.
On October 6, 1940 she was united in marriage to Garvin Solberg. The couple farmed and raised their family in Mayfield township. Garvin died in 1976. Irene has resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls since July of 1989.
She enjoyed music and playing her guitar for herself and the enjoyment of others. She also enjoyed her many friends at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Irene is survived by three sons, Donald Solberg of Warroad and Russell Solberg and Maynard (Darla) Solberg, both of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Carol (Dennis) Decker of Sedgwick, KS, and Frances (Darin) Olimb of Warroad; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, George (Louise) Swanson of Tacoma, WA, Lloyd (Lillian) Swanson of Des Moines, WA, and Myles (Bertine) Swanson of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one infant daughter, Lavonne; and two sisters, Myrtle Smith and Alvina Swanson.
