
Badger - Fred Smith, 73, died Monday, May 15, 2000 at the Roseau Area Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Badger.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 17) at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Fred Smith was born on February 23, 1927 in Badger, the son of Robert and Mary (McFarlane) Smith. He was raised near Badger and attended the Klitson country school. He enjoyed farming for many years, worked at Polaris Industries for 25 years and was a member of the Eagles in Thief River Falls.
Fred is survived by his special friend, Margaret Ohlquist; four daughters, Sheila (Dean) Wojciechowski and Linda (Dale) Wojciechowski, both of Badger, Rebecca (Gary) Whipps of Fergus Falls, and Julie (Donald) Cerkowniak of Roseau; four sons, David (fiance Vicki) of Roseau, Miles (Lyla) of Middle River, and William (Susan) and Jay (Ardell), both of Badger; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arnold of Greenbush.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret Dvergsten; and one grandson, Elden Smith. A00003B2000MY17
