ÝÝÝThief River Falls - Dick Smith, 64, died on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Casket bearers include Larry Kruse, Todd Kruse, Ed Jones, Dan Narverud, Doug Horachek and Keith Matthew. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

ÝÝÝVisitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.

ÝÝÝRichard "Dick" Smith was born on June 30, 1940 in Princeton, the son of Dick and Dorothy Violet (Hamm) Smith. He grew up all around the country, including Texas, Arizona, Missouri and Minnesota.He was Home Schooled by his mother.

ÝÝÝDick was united in marriage to Beatrice Virginia Lee on July 12, 1963 in Sisseton, S.D. The couple lived in Thief River Falls and they owned and operated a septic tank and drain cleaning business.In the early years they spent winters in Waco, Texas.

ÝÝÝHe enjoyed fishing, making flower arrangements, visiting with his friends and family and loved spending time with his grandkids.

ÝÝÝHe was a member of the Masons and Shriners.

ÝÝÝDick is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Thief River Falls; three daughters: Dorothy Rasmussen of Thief River Falls, Beatrice (Daniel) Narverud of St. Hilaire and Tabitha (Ed) Jones of San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren.
