Anna Smith, 90

Thief River Falls - Anna Smith, 90, died Thursday, March 6, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Arrangements were with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8 at Evangelical Free Church of Newfolden with Rev. Gary Barrett officiating. Burial was in Holt Cemetery of Holt.

Casketbearers were Floyd Otto, Leslie Folden, Milton Davidson, Dennis Nikolayson, Mark Lundquist and Myron Sorter.

Anna Emily Lapic was born on October 28, 1906 in Lonsdale. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She moved with her family to Lankin, ND where she was a young girl and attended school in Lankin. She also attended nursing training in Warren and worked as a surgical nurse for the Bratrud Clinic in Thief River Falls. On July 4, 1940 she was united in marriage to Clarence Smith in Thief River Falls. The couple lived in Holt Township, Marshall County where they farmed and raised their family. Clarence died August 26, 1992. Anna has been a resident of the CNC Nursing Home in Thief River Falls since 1989.

She is survived by children Kathleen (Roger) Anderson of Detroit Lakes, Jane Smith of Roseau and Wayne (Margy) Smith of Holt; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister Josephine (George) Hutt of Rawlings, WY; brother Lloyd (Lillian) Lapic of Grand Forks, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; parents; brother William Lapic; sister May Lundholm; and infant granddaughter Dorinda.
