
Karlstad - Julius Sletten, 101, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998 at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, rural Grygla, with Reverend Roberta Johnson officiating. Joy Nordby was the organist. Casketbearers were Wilford Sletten, Gary Sletten, Duane Sletten, Verne Sletten, Michael Helgeland and Glen Nesland. Burial was in Our Saviour's Cemetery in Hamre township of Beltrami county. The Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Julius Otto Sletten was born on April 28, 1897 in Roslyn, SD to Ole and Marie (Snikerstougon) Sletten.
He farmed with his parents until their death and then continued to work on various farms in the Thief River Falls area.
Julius resided at Valley Home for 20 years before moving to the Karlstad Memorial Home in 1992 where he has since resided.
Survivors include one sister, Clara Basgaard of Burbank, CA and many nieces and nephews.
Julius was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Adolf, Oluf, Richard, Peter and Oscar; and three sisters, Alma Olson, Inga Anderson and Mary Dalen.
